Starting August 1, 2025, the central government is launching a new employment scheme that could bring a big cheer to young job seekers. Under the PM Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana initiative, employees who have got their first job will receive an incentive of ₹15,000 in their first salary.
What is the PM Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana?
This scheme is aimed at encouraging formal employment among youth. It replaces the earlier Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) Scheme and introduces direct monetary benefits to first-time employees as well as the companies that hire them.
The focus is on bringing more people into the EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) system and supporting job creation in a structured way.
Benefits for Employees
If you are starting your first-ever formal job, here’s the good news:
- You will receive ₹15,000 from the government as a one-time incentive in two instalments
- This amount is separate from your salary
- It’s available only to those registering with EPFO for the first time
Benefits for Employers
The scheme doesn’t just reward the employees; companies that hire fresh talent also get the following benefits:
- ₹3,000 per employee per month for two years
- If the company is in the manufacturing sector, the benefit extends up to four years
- This applies only if the employee continues for at least 6 months
Eligibility Criteria
To avail the benefits, both employees and employers need to meet certain conditions.
For Employees
- Must be registering with EPFO for the first time
- Gross monthly salary should not exceed ₹1 lakh
- Should stay employed for a minimum of 6 months to unlock benefits
For Employers
- Must accurately report the salary details of employees every month
- Required to file the correct ECR (Electronic Challan cum Return) regularly
- Benefits only apply to employees with a gross salary of up to ₹1 lakh
Conditions For PM Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana
EPFO has issued a strict warning: inaccurate salary reporting can lead to disqualification from the scheme — for both employees and employers.
So, companies need to:
- File proper salary records every month
- Submit correct ECR filings
If the gross salary shown crosses ₹1 lakh or if there’s any inconsistency in records, no ₹15,000 bonus, and no ₹3,000/month for the employer either.
Key Updates
The scheme was announced on August 1, 2025, and is expected to benefit approximately 1.92 crore youth nationwide.
The PM Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana has two parts. The first part is related to the employees, according to which, the employees, who have been registered on the EPFO portal for the first time, will receive ₹15,000 separately into their accounts. This amount will be sent in 2 instalments.
Here’s how it works:
First Instalment (After 6 Months):
You must stay in your job for at least 6 months. Only after completing 6 months of continuous work, you will receive the first part of the ₹15,000 in your account.
Second Instalment (After 12 Months):
To get the remaining amount, you need to complete 12 months (1 year) in the same job. Once you hit the 1-year mark, the government will transfer the second instalment to you.
The second part is related to the employers. Under this scheme, companies that hire employees will receive ₹3,000 per employee every month. This financial benefit will be provided for up to 2 years for employees with a gross salary of up to ₹1 lakh. In the manufacturing sector, the benefit will be extended for 4 years.
However, this benefit will only be applicable to employees who complete at least 6 months of employment with the company.
If you’re stepping into your first job or hiring freshers, keep the paperwork clean and your salary records transparent. That ₹15,000 bonus or ₹3,000/month incentive might just make a big difference.
