What is Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin(PMAY-G)

The Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) is a government initiative aimed at addressing the housing shortage in India’s rural areas. The scheme is a key component of the ‘Housing for All’ mission, seeking to bridge the existing housing deficit.

Under the PMAY-G program, beneficiaries are provided with housing units that meet a minimum size requirement of 25 square meters. This area includes a designated space for hygienic cooking, emphasizing the government’s commitment to both shelter and health. The PMAY-G scheme is designed to improve living conditions in rural communities by providing access to adequate and sanitary housing.

Beneficiaries of PMAY-G are identified based on the parameters of the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) and are verified by the Gram Sabhas. The funds are transferred directly to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account or post office account.
