  • Recognized Institutions: Educational assistance is applicable only for admissions to schools, colleges, and institutions recognized by the government. This includes students enrolled in the National Institute of Open Schooling.
  • External Students: Children of construction workers who are enrolled as external students in government-recognized institutions or colleges are also eligible for assistance.

Application Process:

  • To avail financial assistance, the registered construction worker needs to submit the application in the specified format to the Project Manager of their district, at the Gujarat Housing and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
  • The application must include the “Principal’s Certificate” from the school, college, or institution where the child or wife is studying, as per the sample form.
  • If hostel accommodation is involved, a certificate from the hostel rector, warden, or principal must also be attached.
  • The construction worker should submit the completed application, along with the Principal’s Certificate (and hostel certificate if applicable), to the designated officer’s office.
  • The Project Manager will verify the application details. For applications requesting over ₹5,000, they will forward it with their recommendation to the higher office within 30 days of receipt.
  • Applications for assistance below ₹5,000 will be processed by the Project Manager through a committee established in their district.
  • In case of rejection, written reasons will be documented, and the concerned construction worker will be informed.
  • Upon approval, the financial assistance will be deposited directly into the construction worker’s bank or post office account. Alternatively, payments up to ₹250 may be made in cash or by cheque to the beneficiary after verifying their identity card, and a receipt will be required for such payments.
